Ransomville, NY – Friday, September 4th, 2009 – The weather couldn’t have been better for Ransomville Speedway last Friday as they kicked off the Holiday weekend with a Full Card of Racing plus Fireworks. A packed house enjoyed the ninety-eight cars doing battle amongst the four weekly divisions.
Pete Bicknell of St. Catharines, Ont captured the win aboard the fifty lap Mighty Taco Modified main. Bicknell took the lead away from Jon Miller on lap fifteen and quickly distanced himself from the remainder of the field. Bicknell took the win by a full straight-away ahead of Chad Brachmann, Stewart Friesen, Miller, and Mat Williamson.
Miller led the field through the early stages followed by Rudolph. The event went clean and green through lap twelve but contact between Brachmann and Robbie Krull resulted in Krull spinning in turn three and collecting several cars including Todd Burley, Scott Kerwin, and Stewart Friesen. Burley simply needed to take the green in order to win the points title for the 2009 season – a feat that he lost by one marker a year ago. Bicknell took the lead on lap fifteen putting Miller back to second. Brachmann and Friesen made late race charges to break into the top five. Bicknell showed the fast way around taking the win aboard his Lucas Oil sponsored #42.
Ryan Susice of Ransomville, NY took top honors aboard the twenty-five lap Original Pizza Logs feature main. Susice and Nate Reynolds put on a great show for the fans but when the checkered flew it was Susice in front. Susice cemented his championship season with his sixth win in the division. Reynolds, Don Spatorico, John Smith, and Stephen Miller rounded out the top five.
Chris Purgarich led the first five circuits prior to Reynolds taking the top spot after contact between the two left Purgarich headed pitside. Susice would challenge Reynolds just past half way resulting in a side by side battle between the two young guns. Susice was able to secure to point position and claim the win.
Don Rappleyea took the win aboard the first fifteen lap Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock main. Rappleyea took the lead away from Andy Smith on an early race restart and never looked back aboard his #6r machine. Smith held on for second followed by Scott Krull, Brandon Poole, and Gerald Poole. The main suffered two early caution periods as a lap five maylay left Kirk Sherwood with substantial damage and done for the night. Three laps later Mike Greenawalt and Pat Burek made contact leaving Burek needing a tow pitside with a right rear sneaker missing.
Derrick Borkenhagen won the second fifteen lap Ki-Po Chevrolet Streetstock main. Borkenhagen took the lead away from Charles Harvey on a lap eight restart and was able to maintain the top spot through the final laps. Harvey came home in second followed by Jaren Israel, Webb Nashwinter, and Ricky Washburn Jr.
Jamie O’Donnell took top honors aboard the Bobcat of Buffalo Firehall Enduro twelve lap main. O’Donnell took command at the drop of the green and was never seriously challenged after that point. Jimmy Pringle, Chris Lederhouse, Jonathon Stoelting, and Jim Harbinson rounded out the top five.
