KUBINIEC, ORTIZ,
RAYMOND, WASHBURN, AND WENDT PICK UP WINS AT
RANSOMVILLE

(Alex and Helen Bruce Photos)
Ransomville, NY – Friday, August 17, 2007 – It was DiMino’s
Lewiston Tops Markets and Mighty Taco night at the big R featuring
Open Wheel Topless Modifieds and Sportsman. What a unique view for
the fans and drivers as the open wheel cars ran without roof panels.
Joe Kubiniec of Lockport, NY picked up his first ever Modified
victory last Friday night at the big R. Kubiniec brought the field
to green and quickly pulled away from the remainder of the field. A
pair of early cautions put Jeff McGinnis on his back bumper but
Kubiniec was able to maintain the top spot through the final stages
and pick up the win.
With Kubiniec out front in a big way-the battle on the track was
for fourth on back as Burley, Chad Brachmann, and Bicknell battled
for position. This battle would ensue to the final laps keeping fans
on the edge of their seats. Kubiniec took the top spot over
McGinnis, MacTavish, Burley, and Bicknell.

Jipp Ortiz of Ransomville, NY took top honors last Friday night
aboard the twenty-five lap Sportsman main. As a result of some
dismal finishes as of late, Ortiz found himself in the number one
position for the feature start. It is a position Ortiz would get
used to quickly ashe never relinquished the point position-leading
all twenty-five laps to victory.
Ortiz led the field to the initial green with Dennis Giancola
in tow. A great side by side battled ensued between points leader
Don Spatorico and Scott Just prior to Spatorico securing the top
spot. A pair of cautions would put Spatorico on Ortiz’s back bumper
but it was all for naught as Ortiz was able to maintain the top spot
through the final stages. Spatorico, Just, Giancola, and Ed Cain
rounded out the top five.

Tim
Raymond of Niagara Falls, NY took top honors aboard the first
fifteen lap Johnston’s Restaurant Streetstock main. Raymond was in
the right place at the right time as Jaren Israel lost the handle
while leading on lap fourteen. Raymond was able to maintain the top
spot through the final stages and became the seventeenth different
winner aboard the division. Patrick Dell, Ricky Washburn, Roger
Israel, and
Derrick Borkenhagen rounded out the top five.

Kenny
Washburn of Ransomville, NY became the eighteenth different winner
aboard the Johnston’s Restaurant Streetstock division after he took
the win aboard the second fifteen lap main. Washburn took the lead
using a two car pass on the backstretch of lap three. Washburn was
never seriously challenged after that point.

Jake
Wendt picked up the win aboard the Bobcat of Buffalo Firehall Enduro
Series. Representing Pekin Firehall-Wendt took the win and
celebrated in victory lane with his family.
